HE DID IT!!!!!!
On Friday, May 16, Dexter had his last day of dental school.
Kyalo was pretty excited about that.
But of course, no one was more thrilled about this than Dexter. It was a bit of a race to the finish - and he even wondered if he might have to stick around for a few extra days to finish things up, but thankfully, he didn't! He is truly, wonderfully FREE. No more books and teachers' dirty looks and all that. It wasn't easy, nor was it fun, but we both know that it was the best thing for our family's future.
My parents came down for the graduation ceremony on Tuesday, which was great. I have to admit, I got a little teary when I saw all those students walking into the auditorium. So much hard work represented there! I'm so proud that Dexter was walking among those saints.
After the ceremony we were able to get some photos with our 'Fab Four' group, and their families.
And, of course, the four themselves.
those are smiles of JOY (and perhaps relief, too)
I'd left my camera at home, but my mom was able to get this decent photo of us on her iPhone.

Happy, Happy Day!
It was, of course, chaos and craziness after the ceremony, so saying our goodbyes felt rushed and unfinished. I'm hoping for a reunion with the Fab Four sometime in the future. Eventually Joel will be in Florida (after his wife finishes a dental hygienist program in NJ next May), so I nominate him to host us - preferably in dead of winter so we can escape the Maine misery. :)
As for us, we're on vacation now. We go to California on Thursday, then back to NJ to pack up and move out. No house secured yet in Maine, but we have a very good prospect for a house that is just a four minute walk from the dental clinic. We go and check that out on Tuesday so say a prayer that all works out. If we get it, I'll post a picture here in the weeks to come. Dexter begins orientation June 16, and a very new and different chapter is started for us.
