Last week we had our first real days of summer -- temps in the high 90s. We were doing our walk at 7 am instead of in the afternoon to do it before the temps became too scorching. Friday was so stinkin' hot. Sit in front of a fan and don't move hot. But alas, with a 14 month old that wasn't really an option. Kyalo was fussy and so I decided to take advantage of our little backyard.
He had no problem making himself at home in the landlord's flower bed. (Granted, it was just one little flower. Still.)

I've also mentioned his love of rocks. Here's the proof:

two rocks! oh joy!
Kyalo was completely caked in dirt by the time I dragged him inside. It was time for lunch, but a simple hand/face wash would not get the job done, so I plopped him into a luke warm bath to clean him up and cool him down. I may have stuck my feet in, too.
It was a nice way to spend a hot summer morning. Eventually we may get a little pool to help keep us all cool. We haven't used it a lot yet, but I really am glad for this little backyard. I wonder what it will be like in the winter in snow?!?

I think this must be Kyalo's idea of heaven . . . My favorite pic is the one of him with the two rocks . . .
